The New Eastleigh College
EASTLEIGH is an expanding part of South Hampshire, and Eastleigh College has been growing with
it. In a second phase of development, new and improved facilities will benefit students and the local
community and help raise the prestige of the area.
Specialist consultants have already been engaged. But this development has to be in partnership with
the people of Eastleigh - so you are invited to have your say.
The Proposals
Put simply, here's what's planned:
- To replace ageing structures.
- To refurbish remaining buildings.
- To renew the performing area, learning centre, refectory and training restaurant.
- To upgrade facilities for hairdressing, beauty therapy, art and design.
- To improve facilities for sports and fitness.
The Design
The College's facilities should be functional and modern, a visible asset to the Borough:
- The quality and appearance of all buildings will be enhanced. Where older buildings need replacing, this will be done sympathetically.
- Conversion and new construction together will achieve sustainable development.
- Public access to facilities will be improved.
- On-site parking remains alongside more sustainable forms of transport.
- A central hub will be a multifunctional facility for students, staff and the local community.
- All this will create a more efficient and environmentally friendly infrastructure.
The Benefits
- Providing improved facilities for the local community.
- Securing the long-term future of the College.
- Bringing a multi-million pound investment into the Borough.
- Creating a 21st-century learning environment.
- Ensuring lower running costs.
- Reducing the College's carbon footprint.
