NEWS & EVENTS

Eastleigh College held it's first 'Meet the Employer' event on Tuesday evening, inviting all those interested in joining the Apprenticeship scheme to come along and talk to local employers including: Radian Group Ltd, Clarke Mews, ghd partnership LLP, Lovell, Seddon Property Services, and many more!
The event attracted a huge audience of prospective apprentices, all interested in finding out about how they could benefit from the national scheme. Local businesses were on hand to give tips and advice on what employers are looking for in a future apprentice, with many looking to recruit there next apprentice!
Craig Wilson, Area Manager for Seddon Property Services, based
in Southampton said:
"It's been a busy event and we've talked to a lot of people who
are interested in doing an Apprenticeship, as a result we may start
to look at taking on more apprentices at some point in the near
future. We currently have two apprentices with Eastleigh College
that have started the Maintenance Apprenticeship with us. The
College have been very supportive throughout the whole process,
more so than other colleges that we have worked with in the past.
The apprentices are getting on really well and we are looking to
develop and give them a future with the company. "
Connor Hum, currently at Barton Peveril College, came along to
the event to help him make decisions affecting his future career.
Connor said:
"I'm currently studying A Levels but I don't see them being useful
to my future. So I thought I would come along to find out more
about the Apprenticeship scheme. It's been really useful as I've
met apprentices that were in the same position as me before they
started the scheme. I'm now hoping to do an Apprenticeship in
Plumbing."
The event proved a success with both employers and those looking
to do an Apprenticeship. Claire Francis, Senior Training Advisor at
Eastleigh College Training Agency commented:
"We've had an excellent turnout and a brilliant response from
employer's exhibiting as well as visitors attending the event. As a
result, a lot of companies have shown an interest that they are
hoping to recruit apprentices for September. "
