Eastleigh College recognises the importance of training in the construction industry, providing specialist knowledge, skills and necessary qualifications to enable organisations to perform their activities effectively and safely. As part of its commitment to working with employers, the College brought together a number of construction industry experts, to deliver presentations to local construction- and groundworks-based organisations.

The first Construction Industry Insight event featured presentations centred on vocational training for construction workers, and the avenues available for subsidised training and funding opportunities.

The event was held in the College's Red Carpet Restaurant and, after a breakfast networking session, presentations from ConstructionSkills, Hampshire Construction Training Association, Trade Assessments and Eastleigh College commenced. Following the presentations and Q&A session, all of the speakers were available to discuss their respective areas of expertise, with many of the delegates remaining in the restaurant to gather more information and arrange meetings to take their interest further.

Representatives from the Eastleigh College Training Agency, Workforce & Business Development team and Engage recruitment service were also on hand to offer advice and guidance on Apprenticeships, professional short-courses and other services available from the College.

The event was well-received by all delegates, and planning has now begun to provide a schedule of future Industry Insight events in 2011/12.
