What do the levels mean?

Entry requirements:

Generally at least 4 GCSEs at A*-G (or equivalent), although some courses may require no formal qualifications. There will be an interview and/or assessment.

Duration:

1 Year

Further courses at Level 1 or 2

Entry requirements:

At least 4 GCSEs at A*-D or an equivalent Level 1 qualification. There will be an interview and/or assessment.

Qualifications you could gain:

BTEC Level 2, NVQ Level 2 Diploma or Apprenticeship

Progression:

Level 3 course, Advanced Apprenticeship, Employment

Entry requirements:

At least 4 GCSEs at A*-C (English and Maths preferred) or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit or Distinction Level. There will be an interview and/or assessment.

Duration:

2 Years

Qualifications you could gain:

BTEC Level 3 (and Extended Level 3), NVQ Level 3 Diploma or Advanced Apprenticeship

Progression:

Higher Education: Degree/HND/HNC, NVQ Level 4, Higher Apprenticeship, Employment

1 or 2 Years

Qualifications you could gain:

HNC, CertHE, NVQ Level 4 or Higher Apprenticeship

Electrical Training & Accreditation

The College is proud to be one of the largest and most comprehensive Electrical Installation training providers on the South Coast. This position has allowed us to develop a full range of qualifications and training in a format and style suitable to the diverse needs of today's electrical industry.

Through our close links with industry, we have been able to develop our provision and responsiveness by proactively seeking expertise and know-how to keep abreast of changing quality and legislative requirements. The College is a member of the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA), and works in close partnership with both Summit Skills and a number of employer liaison groups.

Our professional team comprises of experts within a variety of fields, all with strong industry backgrounds; maintaining their skills, training and qualifications to be at the top of their game.

In addition, Eastleigh College has recently completed an extensive refurbishment of its electrical installation facilities, including new workshops and training equipment, to create a complete learning environment for the 21st century.

Refrigeration & Air Conditioning

Eastleigh College is the only training provider in the South East of England, outside London, that specialises in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. This not only makes us unique, but also an important part of this expanding industry. With a heavy investment in our new purpose built workshops, we have become one of the best equipped and technologically advanced providers in the whole country.

But that's not all. We have also been doing this a long time. In fact, this provision has been in place for over thirty years, enabling us to draw on our experienced and highly qualified base of teaching professionals to offer an exceptionally high level of training and expertise.

As you would expect, the College works closely with the industry to ensure that it maintains an intimate understanding of all sector needs. This has allowed us to quickly implement changes to the provision based around regulatory and industry standards, and keep all training relevant and up to date.
