Apprenticeships

Assessment is a continuous process starting at the initial interview stage of the scheme when existing competencies are identified and recorded, and those to be acquired are defined within the context of the Individual Learning Plan. Assessment of vocational competence takes place within the framework of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and all trainees are registered for the appropriate NVQ or equivalent qualification.

Assessment of occupational competence will carry on throughout the programme, as prescribed by the appropriate awarding body, and will normally take place both in a College situation and in the workplace, although some Frameworks are fully delivered in the workplace. These assessments will also involve examining an Apprentices progress in achieving the necessary Functional Skills required to complete their programme.

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs)

Courses can be delivered at the College or within the workplace at convenient times. The on site assessment route recognises existing skills and allows employees to gain a qualification whilst going about their normal work activities. Our assessors will visit the workplace and guide employees through the qualification and support them in achieving their vocational qualification, with any learning support needed. Work-Based assessment is a combination of attending the College and being assessed in the workplace.

On-site and work-based assessments are available in the following vocational areas:
