Level 3 course, Advanced Apprenticeship, Employment

At least 4 GCSEs at A*-C (English and Maths preferred) or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit or Distinction Level. There will be an interview and/or assessment.

Duration:

2 Years

Qualifications you could gain:

BTEC Level 3 (and Extended Level 3), NVQ Level 3 Diploma or Advanced Apprenticeship

Progression:

Higher Education: Degree/HND/HNC, NVQ Level 4, Higher Apprenticeship, Employment

1 or 2 Years

Who is the course suitable for?

For teachers, instructors or trainers, who have a minimum of 30 hours teaching between the start and end dates of this course.

What will I learn, how will I be assessed and what qualifications will I achieve?

The course will cover three mandatory units and other optional Units.
The mandatory units are:
• Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector
• Planning and enabling learning
• Principles and practice of assessment

Certification will be dependent on the completion of a portfolio of evidence, together with 3 teaching observations and a microteach. Certificate and Teaching in the Lifelong Sector (CTLLS) Level 4 – City & Guilds will be taught by an experienced teacher trainer who will use a range of teaching activities including lectures, group work, discussion, role play, demonstration and observation. Individual tutorials are also an important part of this course. Students are strongly encouraged to achieve a Level 2 qualification in both Literacy & Numeracy (if not previously held).

What are the career/progression opportunities?

On completion, candidates can progress to the DTLLS Certificate in Post Compulsory Education (Level 5 and 6) two year course, providing they have a full teaching role.

What additional resources are required and what should I bring to the first class?

Ring binder, notepaper and writing equipment.

Are there any other costs involved?

No.

Payment is accepted by cheque, credit or debit card at the time of enrolment.

The only means tested benefits Colleges are able to accept this year will be Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) and Employment Support Allowances (ESA) in the Work Related Activity.
