Who is the course suitable for?
This course is essential for middle and senior managers seeking to enhance their management skills and knowledge, whilst introducing a variety of management techniques to support their role within the organisation.
This course enables candidates to develop strategic management principles, as well as underpinning and building on students’ own knowledge and experience.
The Edexcel BTEC Level 7 professional qualification is designed to be flexible in its approach, with learners able to progress through different sized qualifications from the Award (10 credits), Certificate (20 credits), Diploma (60 credits) to the Extended Diploma (120 credits).
Each unit within the qualification has a credit value which can be accumulated to build from the Award through to the Extended Diploma. All units are internally assessed through work based assignments. The BTEC Level 7 qualifications are designed to give learners an understanding of the skills needed within vocational sectors.
What is required to join this course?
The applicant must show an ability to progress to a Level 7 qualification. For learners who have recently been in education, the entry profile is likely to include at least one of the following:
-A Degree, or BTEC Diploma in a related subject, e.g. Business, Management
-A BTEC Level 5/6 Short Course in a related subject (eg Business or Management)
-Appropriate work/management experience
More mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience (paid and/or unpaid) and/or achievement of a range of professional qualifications in their work sector.
There is an expectation that applicants are computer literate and can use MS Word.

What will I learn, how will I be assessed and what qualifications will I achieve?
This course builds from the Edexcel BTEC Level 7 Award qualification, (units completed at QCF BTEC Award and Certificate and Diploma in Management and Leadership will count towards this qualification and not be repeated).
The course content will cover the below units, which are all integral to adding value to an organisation:
1. Developing Strategic Management & Leadership Skills
2. Professional Development for Strategic Managers
3. Strategic Change Management
4. Strategic Marketing Management
5. Strategic Quality & Systems Management
6. Research Methods for Strategic Managers
7. Strategic Human Resource Management
8. Managing Financial Principles & Techniques
9. Strategic Management Planning
10. Project Development & Implementation for Strategic Managers
The units are assignment based and are internally assessed.
How will the course be taught?
Topic input, group discussions, problem solving, work based activities, presentation and work related research to enable you to put theory into practice. Builds from the Level 5 qualification and enables candidates to learn, understand and use management skills in the workplace within a range of differing disciplines.You will need to set aside a minimum of one day a week self study.
This course will be delivered through a blended learning approach. Four units (Strategic Human Resource Management, Managing Financial Principles & Techniques, Strategic Management Planning, Project Development & Implementation for Strategic Managers) will be completed through distance learning.
What are the career/progression opportunities?
Upon successful completion of the course, students can progress to a Masters Degree programme at University.

Lever arch folder, stationery, memory stick and calculator.

Membership of BTEC (apply directly to EDEXCEL). Books (to be advised by tutors upon enrolment).
