Qualifications you could gain:

BTEC Level 2, NVQ Level 2 Diploma or Apprenticeship

Progression:

Level 3 course, Advanced Apprenticeship, Employment

Entry requirements:

At least 4 GCSEs at A*-C (English and Maths preferred) or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit or Distinction Level. There will be an interview and/or assessment.

Duration:

2 Years

Qualifications you could gain:

BTEC Level 3 (and Extended Level 3), NVQ Level 3 Diploma or Advanced Apprenticeship

Progression:

Higher Education: Degree/HND/HNC, NVQ Level 4, Higher Apprenticeship, Employment

1 or 2 Years

Who is the course suitable for?

The HNC is offered as a day release programme over 2 years, and is an essential qualification for those who wish to progress to professional and management level careers within the construction industry.

What will I learn, how will I be assessed and what qualifications will I achieve?

The content of the course is management based and covers most aspects of contracting management, including:
• Organisation and Management Theories
• Economics and Financial Aspects
• Contracting Operations
• Contract Procedures
• Corporate Management
• Marketing
• Human Resource Management
• Project A combination of assessments is employed. These reflect the current philosophy in management education. The HNC is offered as a day release programme, and students will attend Eastleigh College from 1pm - 8pm on 17 alternate Mondays throughout the academic year. You must allow for travel time, and about 120 hours of study and course work. In addition, there is a two day residential study weekend in each of the years. The course is focused on the specific needs of the contracting industry and will provide students with the requisite knowledge, concepts, techniques and skills to enable them to effectively fulfil their existing and future managerial responsibilities.

What are the career/progression opportunities?

The course can lead to a Diploma in Management and an MSC or MBA in Facilities Management. The HNC can also enable students to go straight into the second or third year of some construction degree courses.

£199 qualifying fee.

Payment is accepted by cheque, credit or debit card at the time of enrolment.

The only means tested benefits Colleges are able to accept this year will be Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) and Employment Support Allowances (ESA) in the Work Related Activity.

If you wish the College to invoice your employer for the fees, please complete the Employer Authorisation section of the Enrolment form.
