What do the levels mean?

Entry requirements:

Generally at least 4 GCSEs at A*-G (or equivalent), although some courses may require no formal qualifications. There will be an interview and/or assessment.

Duration:

1 Year

Qualifications you could gain:

Level 1 qualifications

Progression:

Further courses at Level 1 or 2

Entry requirements:

At least 4 GCSEs at A*-D or an equivalent Level 1 qualification. There will be an interview and/or assessment.

Duration:

1 Year

Qualifications you could gain:

BTEC Level 2, NVQ Level 2 Diploma or Apprenticeship

Progression:

Level 3 course, Advanced Apprenticeship, Employment

Entry requirements:

At least 4 GCSEs at A*-C (English and Maths preferred) or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit or Distinction Level. There will be an interview and/or assessment.

Duration:

2 Years

Qualifications you could gain:

BTEC Level 3 (and Extended Level 3), NVQ Level 3 Diploma or Advanced Apprenticeship

Progression:

Higher Education: Degree/HND/HNC, NVQ Level 4, Higher Apprenticeship, Employment

Entry requirements:

Level 3 qualification

Duration:

1 or 2 Years

Qualifications you could gain:

HNC, CertHE, NVQ Level 4 or Higher Apprenticeship

Progression:

BTEC Level 5 qualification or Employment

Entry requirements:

Level 4 qualification

Duration:

1 Year

Qualifications you could gain:

BTEC Level 5 Diploma, DipHE, NVQ Level 5, HND or Foundation Degree

Progression:

BTEC Level 6 qualification or Employment

Level 5 qualification

Who is the course suitable for?

Students with full time related employment and who have completed a Level 2 in Beauty Therpay. The course will offer extended and specialist treatment and procedure knowledge as well as developing your commercial and salon management skills. The Advanced Apprenticeship has three different pathways and can be chosen to suit and reflect the organisations target market and treatment offer.

What is required to join this course?

You will need to be in full-time employment.
You will need NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy, or an equivalent qualification encompassing manicure, pedicure, waxing, facials, make up and eye treatments. You should also have a neat and tidy appearance with a sympathetic nature and a desire to help your clients. If you do not meet the entry requirements please contact us to discuss your options.

What will I learn, how will I be assessed and what qualifications will I achieve?

The advanced apprenticeship has three different pathways and can be chosen to suit and reflect the organisations target market and treatment offer. Each pathway has selected mandatory units which must be completed and a selection of optional units, students/employer can select a number of optional unit (must meet credit value) to suit.

3. Make-up pathway

How will the course be taught?

Your theory and practical work will be continually assessed throughout the course. A portfolio will be built up containing assignments, projects, practical work, tests and case studies. The course is a careful balance of theory and practical work. You will be able to gain extra experience in the College salon and reception area as well as attending lectures and tutorials.

What are the career/progression opportunities?

-Full-time Employment
-Higher education, such as salon management
-Specialist part-time courses

What additional resources are required and what should I bring to the first class?

Uniform £60 - we will accept your work uniform if it conforms to industry expected standards.
Kit £150.

Are there any other costs involved?

During your time at the College additional courses may be offered, events and trips and these may occur additional costs. These are not mandatory but do offer experince and development.
