Who is the course suitable for?
This course is suitable for those working in accounting who have some knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounts and who are looking for career progression. It is for those who need to gain additional skills to improve their business acumen. Appropriate job roles include Trainee Accountant, Trainee Accounting Technician or Assistant Management Accountant. This course is also suitable for those wanting to progress onto CIMA and ACCA qualifications.
What is required to join this course?
- 5 GCSEs grade A*-C including Maths and English or the equivalent
- AAT Foundation (NVQ Level 2) or the AAT Level 2 Certificate
AND/OR
- Provable relevant workplace experience will be considered, subject to a successful accountancy skills test and an assessment of numeracy and/or literacy showing the candidates are working at Level 2 or above
What will I learn, how will I be assessed and what qualifications will I achieve?
You will have the opportunity to study:
- Accounts Preparation
- Cash Management
- Costs and Revenues
- Indirect Tax (VAT)
- Professional ethics
- Spreadsheet software
How will the course be taught?
You are required to attend this course for one day per week. Each of the 13 units has an online exam attached which you will have to pass to complete the qualification (learners are exempt from the Professional Ethics unit exam if it has already been achieved within a Level 2 course).
What are the career/progression opportunities?
- Entry to the AAT QCF Level 4 Diploma in Accounting
- Further employment in an accountancy role in a variety of industry sectors with additional responsibilities
- Job roles may include Trainee Accounting Technician, Assistant Management Accountant
