Who is the course suitable for?
This course is suitable for students seeking a career in an engineering field. The Engineering Apprenticeship covers a wide range of engineering operations, and the workshops are set up to cater to different sectors of the industry. Apprentices will learn all aspects of installation and servicing within the engineering industry. Job roles will include: Machine Operative, CNC Operator, Manufacturing Operator, Skilled Fitter, Sheet Metal Worker. The qualification has a vast amount of optional units and can cover most job roles within an engineering setting.
What is required to join this course?
- 5 GCSEs grade A*-C including Maths and English or the equivalent
AND
- Successful College interview/assessment
What will I learn, how will I be assessed and what qualifications will I achieve?
You will have the opportunity to study:
- Producing components using hand fitting techniques
- Producing mechanical assemblies
- Preparing and using milling machines
- Using and communicating technical information
- Working safely in an engineering environment
How will the course be taught?
Apprentices learn and develop skills through a mixture of lessons, demonstrations and assignments, and their practical skills will be assessed in the College workshops. There are a vast amount of units to choose from within the engineering framework, and learners will work on units to suit their job role.

- Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering
- Various roles within a number of engineering-based industries requiring a higher level of skills and knowledge

What additional resources are required and what should I bring to the first class?
Ringbinder & pen. It is expected that candidates have all the protective equipment necessary to carry out tasks safely in the workplace.
